Innovation in agricultural plastics: A sustainable future

The blueberry industry requires reliable, high-performance solutions to optimize crop potential.

“Blueberries require specific conditions for their proper development. Our portfolio includes pots and germination trays, essential products for the healthy growth of the crops,” says Guillermo Atocha, Sales Manager at Norcass, a Peruvian brand that manufactures plastic products for the agricultural sector.

“Our pots have been designed to provide adequate aeration, drainage, and moisture retention, promoting a strong and healthy root system. This allows growers to maximize crop yields with reduced water and fertilizer consumption. Our germination trays facilitate seedling management from the earliest stages, ensuring even distribution and uniform growth. Made from durable and easily reusable materials, they contribute to more efficient and sustainable production,” he emphasizes.

Atocha emphasizes that, as producers of agricultural plastics for various fruits and vegetables, Norcass promotes the idea that innovation must go hand in hand with environmental responsibility, considering the use of recyclable materials and manufacturing processes that minimize ecological impact: “The goal is to provide solutions that not only benefit farmers but also contribute to caring for the planet. As manufacturers, we offer our customers an Eco-Friendly Voucher, so if they recycle and return our pots and trays, they receive a discount on their next purchase.”

OPTIMIZING GROWTH
“Since we started using pots for blueberries, we’ve seen a significant increase in both production and quality, as the plants grow healthier and stronger. The pots are easy to use and maintain uniformity, saving time and effort in crop management; they have proven to be highly effective, providing resilience and durability,” he says.

“Based on our experience, we can project that using pots leads to a 10 to 15% annual increase in blueberry production. This is in addition to improved production quality and reduced costs, thanks to decreased water and fertilizer use,” explains Guillermo Atocha, Sales Manager at Norcass.
